From men’s fashion accessories and items on the desk to improving your inner-self, every man must have these top 26 whether in the wardrobe ready for the next occasion, at the workplace, or a boost to your image.

1. The tie - Keep your neck cool and your suit complete with a nice silk tie. A staple in every man’s collection, a tie is a statement piece in your outfit, one that screams your style! Next time you shop, look out for these features – designer, handmade by artisans, silk and wool interlining. Edwin Pireh ties are regarded as the finest – check out our ready-to-wear and bespoke collection.

2. What goes around your waist? - A belt! We all need something to keep our shirts in and pants up. Suits tend to be popular in black, grey and navy so having a great black belt will match all. Look out for leather (all the way through), handmade and a buckle to suit. Stay away from huge buckles or one that grabs too much attention down there!

Hermes Belt – $1620Hermes belt $1620

3. Wallet - I don’t think any man can go without one. Our lives are all in there, IDs, cards, cash etc. There are quite a few styles and variations out there but it all comes down to one in the workplace – a leather wallet as it complements business style. A defining feature is the lining used in each slot – be it card or cash. If this is made from the same leather, rather than a synthetic fabric, than the wallet itself you have a winner! Explore our guide on the almighty wallet hunt.

Burberry Wallet – $600burberry wallet

4. The ultimate bag - Diaries, books, notes, phones all need a place to take it easy and relax. A bag is the ultimate accessory for a variety of items and can range from a duffle, briefcase, backpack whatever you fancy. Keep in it inline with your attire and professional, don’t get too distracted with a bag aimed for the outdoors or one that has a casual look. Pockets, pockets, pockets and yes sleeves too – plan ahead with enough space for the worst case scenario of what you need to take to work.

Bottega Veneta Atlantic Nero Intrecciatio Nappa Briefcase – $2280Bottega veneta ATLANTIC NERO INTRECCIATO NAPPA BRIEFCASE $2,280

5. Suit - Ever heard the saying ‘It is the suit that defines a man’? A suit is an investment, in yourself, your image and confidence. Having at least 3 colours is a must – black, grey, navy. Depending on your body shape, you’re matched to a different fit – slim, regular and tailored. One, two, three or more buttons also cater to a fashion style or occasion. Put this on your bucket list – MUST VISIT A TAILOR!

Canali Suit – $2500canali suit

6. Something to write with - If you are dealing with clients whether at the office or home, having a pen that is both functional and impressive is a nice addition to your collection. Unfortunately the cheap plastic pens at the local store in packs of 5 or 10 don’t make the cut. Think Montblanc, Chopard and Visconti. Remember, you only need one so make it one that you love.

Cartier Panther Decor Fountain Pen – $15000Cartier PANTHER DECOR FOUNTAIN PEN £7,050

7. Laptop/tablet - Depending on the nature of your work, a laptop or tablet will suit your requirements. There are a few features to consider – portability, processing power, battery length and screen size. it all depends on what you need it for – access the net/emails, designing, documents etc. Top 4 – iPad, Surface, Asus Zenbook or MacBook.

Apple iPad Air – from $619apple tablet

8. Phone - Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone, need I say more? Not going into this vs that (Happy to leave that to the forums out there!), having one that can do it all ie: calls, social media, emails, internet, gps, photos, is a lifesaver for any task ahead. Showing off the latest and greatest is also good too! Get it on a plan or pop in a sim, whatever you decide go for unlimited calls, text and a good chunk of data. You will thank me when you have a few 30min calls or many texts to clients in a single day!

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge – from $999samsung galaxy s6 edge

9. Your feet need a home too - Black and brown shoes match nearly every suit/trouser colour. Inline with a suit, having one handmade and handcrafted by a bespoke shoemaker is an experience that must be on your bucket list! Tip to follow – Choose something simple in design that showcases elegance rather than bling. Make sure it’s light and comfortable as your feet will be spending most of its time here or in bed!

Boss shoes – $645Italian Leather Double Monk Strap Dress Shoes by BOSS

10. An organiser - Nothing beats an old-school organiser or diary. Everything goes in here – meetings, notes on clients, birthdays and of course the most important holiday dates! Find a good quality organiser/diary that has changeable inserts. This way it will last a while as you can purchase refills. A quality leather piece and one that matches your pen will sure impress!

Louis Vutton – $930Louis Vuitton LARGE RING AGENDA COVER $930

11. Socks - A subtle form of expression, the once black and brown socks have been updated to a more modern look. Patterns and colour once reserved for ties are now making their way onto socks. This hidden detail is a very stylish way of providing an additional pattern or colour to the overall look.

Italian woven socks – $149socks21

12. Eyewear - We all pay special attention to our face and the way it looks. Grooming, cutting, shaving and cleaning, there is alot that goes on there. Wearing glasses and sunglasses take up a good area on your face so it makes sense to wear something that is cool and fashionable. Weather you go for ready-to-wear or bespoke glasses/sunglasses ensure it matches your face including the colour, material, lenses and fit. Having a nice complimenting case and cloth makes it all complete so watch out for the generic cases/cloths that accompany your glasses/sunglasses.

Ray Ban Aviator – $300rayban aviator classic

13. Car - Who doesn’t like to drive a nice car? I think it’s fair to say that most of us would love to drive a Lamborghini to work but unfortunately this is a luxury reserved for the fair few! Depending on your professional need to drive an expensive car, it might be a must despite your salary potential while for others a car is just a simple means of transportation.

Lamborghini Asterion – $TBC2015 Lamborghini Asterion LPI910-4 Concept

14. Network - If you are motivated by succeeding as much as you can in your profession you need to look outside of your 9-5 walls. Everyday we liaise with our colleagues but to know what your competitors or industry are doing make sure to get out there, attend common functions and start having discussions. Some of the biggest business deals have been made are a result of networking and collaborating ideas. These events are not for sharing your personal business IP but more to discuss what is and isn’t working for your industry and if there is anyone out their worth talking to further that will in turn help you as well as your business to grow or do things more economically/efficiently.

networking

15. Shirt - Apart from a quality shirt that sits and feels well on the body, learn how to iron a shirt so it feels brand new each time you wear it. There is nothing worse then a wrinkled shirt that presents more negative dispersions than a beautifully crisp looking shirt. Also know when it’s time to replace the old with new and don’t hold onto a shirt until the arms physically fall off, know when it’s time to replace so you always present in a professional manner.

Brioni business shirt – $575Brioni business shirt $575

16. Fragrance - Why just look good when you can also smell good. Picking the right aftershave or cologne is very important as not all types suit all men. There are a number of considerations for picking your scent which include your skin type, your profession, your partner’s preference, the occasion, the list goes on and on! We recommend that having a variety being 4 or more is the best way to ensure you are ready for all situations. Also try making blends to discover new personal scents.

Chanel Bleu – $169chanel bleu

17. Grooming - Whether you sport a beard or not, your facial and head hair should look as well manicured as a golf course! There is no point having the look neck down if the look neck up doesn’t support it. A growing trend right now is barber shops that provide the traditional cut throat shave with the option of a lovely whiskey. Very manly and a great treat for a man’s man.

Kings Domain Barber Shopkings domain barber shop

18. Lunch - You are what you eat! In a world where healthy habits are not only good for your health but fashionable, our lunch habits can also be economical vs the convenient fast food which can add up at the end of the week. Depending on what you’re ordering will contribute to your overall health and how you feel for the rest of the day. As an alternative and without the risk of being anti social at work you can buy your drink while still enjoying your own homemade healthy lunch.

19. Drink bottle - Similar to a tie, the drink bottle is another way to express your personality as a physical item. Considering they come is many different finishes such as plastic, glass, aluminium, timber etc just the finish paints a picture of the type of person. Fill it will water or a healthy mix of fruits/vegetables and enjoy it throughout the day.

Life Factory drink bottle – $40life factory

20. A special mug - Where would we be without coffee? A morning must-have or afternoon wake-up call, having our very own coffee mug is a delight when brewing our coffee at work. A quality piece, one with our name or from our kids (World’s Greatest Dad!) is all good.

21. Jacket/Coat - Over a suit, this layered look presents the business man with style and sophistication. A look that paints a picture of a boss and person of authority.

Brioni coat/jacket – $5000Brioni jacket

22. Umbrella - An accessory that we generally forget, even when the weather is bad, the umbrella presents a look of practicality and organisation. The image of a well-dressed man that has even spent the time to consider the weather elevates that person into a sense of higher society.

Francesco Maglia umbrella – from $400Francesco_Maglia_Umbrella

23. Hat - The pinnacle of being dapper is the hat. Once a must have accessory among men, today the hat has somehow become an optional requirement. The nostalgia none the less is still there as coupled with a well made suit, the hat can add the additional level of sophistication to the overall look.

hats

24. Business card holder - A dedicated business card holder is a professional way of presenting your card to someone. Instead of fumbling through your wallet or bag, this card holder is the perfect accessory to show someone that you give out so many cards that they need their own compartment while being stylish at the same time.

Fort Belvedere – $150Business Card Case in Whisky Brown Leather & Blue Lining by Fort Belvedere $150

25. Confidence - To know everything about your profession is only 50% of your confidence. You will need more to present and share your ideas. The best way to gain confidence is by means of experience and the best way to gain experience is to have a go. Yes, you will fail many times on the road to gaining confidence but each time you fail, you also have the opportunity to learn and reflect which in turn gains a small amount of confidence.

confidence

26. Never stop learning - To be at the top of your game requires a level of understanding into what being at the top requires. All industries are competitive and there will always be someone pushing to be the ultimate leader. Take it upon yourself to invest in your personal growth by means of obtaining additional education, attending seminars and looking up ways to maximise your performance.

If men had to choose one accessory they could not live without, it will no doubt be the good ol’ wallet. I think everyone has or is still going through one of the wallet stages or phases – the cool sports style Velcro wallet at school or on an adventure, dad’s old wallet we were so proud of, a leather wallet that really wasn’t leather but we wanted to show off anyways to our friends and at some stage the ‘I don’t need a wallet’ phase where we only had our licence, maybe a credit card and some cash in a money clip. All good memories!

A wallet is everything to a man – a bank of cash and credit, ID, photos, business cards, membership cards, and of course a storage place for receipts. Practicality, comfort, style and quality are all features we look for when on the hunt for a wallet. Remember the good memories? Set them aside, it’s time to choose the ‘it’ wallet, the right wallet with the right features for you.

There is one thing you need to do before going on the almighty wallet hunt. Let’s start off with a few steps:

1. Get your wallet
2. Get everything out and I mean everything!
3. Toss it – in a draw, out the window or on the floor. Wherever you think best!

Here are the 5 features to look out for:

1. Quality
Leather is the first choice, as it is durable and suits any casual or formal outfit. If you are the sporty type, nylon or waterproof fabrics are a good choice when performing. For leather wallets, it’s all in the detail. Question the type of leather used, where it was made in, how it was made either by machine or hand, the stitching and the lining where the cash is stored and in-between each card slot. Lining can be a synthetic fabric or made from the same leather as the entire wallet which is of better quality and lasts longer due to fewer tears from handling.

2. Bi-fold or tri-fold
This feature is all down to preference. Do you carry 6-10 cards or more? If you are after a wallet that is thinner bi-fold is your friend. If you cannot live without all your cards then go for tri-fold.

Compartments are everything so make sure you scope the wallet out – check cash fits and cards fit. The one-size fits all rule does not apply here especially with foreign cash and cards. Do you store coins? If no, then opt for a wallet without a coin compartment. This just adds to the bulge so keep it slim.

3. Colour
Black and brown are staples and suited to all occasions. If you’re the adventurous type or want to stand out from the crowd, choose something with colour like blue, red, yellow or green. Nothing wrong with showcasing your personality. Better yet, when you do find the wallet choose 2 – one black or brown and one colour.

4. Practicality
Don’t get too overwhelmed with finding the right wallet that fits everything. Pulling out a bulging George Costanza wallet won’t impress anyone so limit the necessities to your wallet of choice. Items that are not every day can be left for a business card holder, travel wallet, wallet/phone cash combo or photo album.

5. Style
Style is a wallet that is subtle and elegant. Choosing a stylish wallet only has 3 rules:

– Small number of colour tones, one to three tones including stitching colour
– Minimal logos, complement rather than take over the whole item
– Stay away from distracting graphics, rather look for designer inspirations

Good luck with the almighty wallet hunt!

Nothing beats coming to a picture perfect desk. We all have our own neat additions we like to place, whether your desk is at home (dining table no no), work or somewhere in between (yes I am referring to those on the train or in the car using a flip table or your lap :-) haha! Nevertheless, having an awesome desk is satisfying to say the least. Coming to work to a desk that is a showcase of stunning style and practicality is the best medicine to a kick-ass day. Remember, a desk is everything – our organiser, problem solver, game station (during breaks of course), weekend planner, project developer and lunch room (keep it clean please). Make it fashionable, treat it with respect and viola – it will be your motivator day in, day out!

Here is our guide to a fashionable yet practical desk:

1. Cool yet comfortable desk and chair
Nothing beats comfort. When you are sitting at your desk for 8 or so hours a day you want to make sure the desk and chair fits in well with your body and space. 2 or 3 drawers, a paper handling file system and an adjustable, lightweight, ergonomic chair are all a must. Somewhere to place water or coffee is also neat to avoid spills on a computer or papers. Another addition is a stationary organiser, keep the necessities on your desk and the rest in a draw.

2. Creative touch
What do you like? What makes you at ease and ready? Pick three things you like, three things you relate to and love to have on or around your desk. Choose stylish and fashionable pieces, something modern or something with colour. Cool designs that a creative are the key. Think mirrors, flowers with colourful vases and photos in artistic frames. Another combo of three – sweets in a bowl, plants and a photographic calendar.

3. Keep your desk clean
We have all been there and done it. Desks that were spotless one morning and by afternoon looked as if a tiger or lion was let loose in a stationary store! Depending on the nature of your work, keeping it clean daily is impossible. That’s fine. If you can, before you leave for the day tidy your desk to what it was before you arrived otherwise aim for a nice clean desk before you leave on Friday so come Monday your desk is ready for an awesome week! You want your desk to be clean, efficient and positive.

4. Have some accessories with style
No desk is complete without some great accessories that have some style. Think of your laptop, pens, folder and a cup/saucer set. Aim for items that have quality and premium look/feel – Mac Air or Asus Zenbook, Montegrappa or Visconti pen, Louis Vutton folder and Deviehl coffee set. Nothing beats premium accessories, especially when heading to the next meeting or presentation and strutting your stuff!

Edwin Pireh presents a world’s first bespoke silk scarf service, created exclusively for those with distinguished taste, luxury style and preference. Discover Pireh’s personal designs, experience a unique collaboration direct from Italy’s most respected silk mill and artisan’s that treasure handmade craftsmanship. The creation of a bespoke silk scarf is a one-of-a-kind process that is meticulous and takes time to perfect, a process that less than a handful of people in the world can perfect.

The design pictured was created and handmade for a private wardrobe, whereby the client, a successful business woman, accustomed to wearing luxury designer brands wanted a specific item that was bespoke in all its elements – design to product. The first meeting was at her exquisite home which gave Pireh an insight into the client’s personality and style. While discussing the project on a lounge in her wardrobe and enjoying champagne, inspirations were discussed and explored (and yes, there was a lounge in her wardrobe, her 50 square meter luxury wardrobe that could easily double as a designer store!).

The client provided a basic brief of requirements including a colour pallet which was handed to Pireh for realisation. Once the design was signed off, the process moved forward to sampling from the silk mill in Italy. There are several reasons why sampling is done, even though the design has been agreed upon, as colour on a screen or paper tends to look different to the print on actual silk twill. With any design the proportions need to be considered and appreciated. Once this is done it then comes down to the feel of the silk, the weight and overall lustre that needs to be comfortable for the client. Finally, the final product is created and finished. For this design, the client one of each colourway was handmade. An ecstatic process no one ever forgets!

Apart from bespoke silk scarves, Pireh also specialises in creating bespoke silk jacquard ties and now bespoke handmade leather handbags. Pireh can also create bespoke silk jacquard fabric whereby a design is personally created by Pireh then refined by our silk mill in England into woven silk and delivered worldwide to the client or tailor of choice for the creation of a garment.

– Silk twill, exclusively printed in Italy
– Handmade and handsewn hem by artisans
– Personally designed by Edwin Pireh
– Personalised veneer label
– 90cm x 90cm
– 21 momme weight
– Elegantly gift wrapped for luxurious presentation

The fine details are what define that something is special and at Edwin Pireh we have pushed the boundaries to achieve that for our clients. What makes Edwin Pireh bespoke so unique is that the item is only made once an order has been placed. From hand sewn neckties and jacquard woven tipping to hand rolled hems, it’s the process of this realization that truly makes the bespoke silk ties and silk scarves a personal experience.

The journey begins with the client selecting from a range of designs from the bespoke silk tie and silk scarf collections, the fabric is then woven or printed in a single run of only enough fabric for their particular item. This amazingly small run of fabric is then passed onto an artisan who will hand make / hand finish the item. While the silk is being created the personalized veneer label is being laser cut to reflect the identity of the owner “handmade for John Smith by Edwin Pireh”. Once the silk tie or silk scarf is made the veneer label is then hand sewn onto it before it’s packaged and dispatched to the client.

If that impressed you, try this, many of our clients then move onto the modern bespoke experience, here everything described above happens except the selection of a design. Here clients with the personal collaboration with Pireh will create a brand new design / pattern that is individually designed to the clients specifications. Edwin will guide you and together will create an individual masterpiece. A true bespoke like nothing else in the world.

What bonds this all together is the unrivaled quality and craftsmanship. Our silk mills whether it be for printing or weaving share a heritage of handmade craftsmanship that has been passed down from generation to generation over a combined 400 year company heritage. These mills in England and Italy represent the pinnacle in their field and marked as being the finest in the world.

Traditionally, wearing socks with pants is what one normally does in the processing of getting dressed. And one would generally stick to the basic three, black, brown or grey socks. A trend has evolved into two paths leaving either yet to be crowned the preferred. These options include the colourful / patterned socks to the bare skin no socks options. It seems to be a personal preference presenting ones personality while adding style to the overall look.

What pulls this look together is the neighbouring items being the pants and shoes. It’s all in the details so the small things here tend to make the biggest impact.

men sitting with no socks

Take the look of pants / socks / shoes. The attempt to this look is to highlight the detail in the socks especially if they feature bold colours and patterns. You want the pants to be long enough and short enough to tease the look of the socks when stationary, in motion or seated. When seated the pants normally ride up to expose the ankles and hence completely reveal the feature of the socks openly. Walking needs to also show glimpses of the socks when in motion and almost like a light beacon going off in continuous cycles the socks act as an occasional announcement. When standing stationary the socks are generally hidden (if the pants are full length), however depending on the contour of your shoes there may be a subtle opportunity to see the inspiration of the socks through the gaps.

Apart from socks the accessories that men can use to add character to their look include a silk neck tie, silk scarf and pocket square. If you are new to the accessory adventure start by adding one at a time and see what style looks best on you.

silk ties made in England

Now the look of pants / no socks / shoes. In this look the hero becomes the shoes. The bare ankles become a neutral zone that are no longer an attention seeker giving the spotlight to the shoes. The look can be worn with full length pants but more commonly worn with pants slight raised off the ankle. This look is also the opportunity for men to show some skin adding an element of sexy to the look.

Both styles have their occasions and when worn with conviction and hint of thought, they will transform the man into a stylish gentleman.

For me, travelling is always on the menu. I love it and cherish any opportunity I get to travel. We have all experienced different things like short escapes, an international getaway, visiting summer islands, ski resorts or a cruise. Whatever the purpose or destination, the excitement leading up to the day the journey begins is magnificent. Counting done the days, hours and minutes, planning what to do, packing, all very enjoyable moments. Today, we are going to explore the essentials when travelling. What to wear and take is a big question for most of us so we have put together this list to help you for your next trip:

  1. Bag

Basic right? Well, on the surface it may be but I am not referring to a suitcase. I am referring to something that is portable, can carry your essentials and what is important to you on your trip. A handbag is a must. Always pack a smart, compact backpack, duffel bag or cross-body bag. Any of these are handy and store the essentials for any day out like keys, camera, mobile, passports and IDs.

  1. Footwear

This is a big one. Pack what you need for a variety of occasions like flip flops, sneakers, heels and sandals. Never rely on purchasing something when you get there as more than often you won’t find what you are looking for or your size is out-of-stock. Wear something super comfortable on the way, you will thank me for it later!

  1. Colours

We have all experienced that odd stain, one that wasn’t meant to be there but is. Wear colours that conceal any sight of a future stain, as well as sweat. Waiting in the airport can be frustrating, hot and long so stick with dark colours that hide anything you don’t want to be seen. Keep your colourful items for the night out when you arrive.

  1. Clothes

Some say if you’re travelling to a summer destination take only what you need like shorts, a bikini, swimwear, shirts etc. A winter destination calls for the opposite. I suggest pack for the worst. This does not mean take your whole closet but rather stock on items that you definitely use and add in a pinch of clothing items you will unlikely use. Take the summer destination just mentioned, adding in one jumper or jacket and pants might save you from that unexpected rainy day or freezing stopover at the airport with air conditioners on full blast while outside is hot.

Formal clothing is always handy when travelling especially if you are going to a destination and want to go out to an event, restaurant or club. Pack the essentials like a dress, suit, collared shirt, formal trousers or jeans, tie, scarf, these are better in your suitcase than home when travelling.

  1. Technology

Mobiles, computers, whatever you need for leisure or work, take it. Whether you are sending  an email, making a call, updating your status on Facebook or taking care of work while away, having one item that can do it all is safe. Research your destination for internet service and make sure your sim card supports you where you are travelling.

  1. Accessories

Keep it basic and don’t bring expensive items that cannot be replaced. Unless you have a really safe place to store them when travelling, items like gold, your favourite watch or necklace are best left out for this trip. If you can’t get over it if you lose it then don’t bring it!

  1. Toiletries

Makeup, fragrances, medications, shaving tools, creams, shoe polish, having a bag that holds all these is a life saver. Raid your bathroom cabinet and bedroom. Stock up on the essentials and don’t leave anything out.

  1. You

Lastly, when travelling, to whatever cool, awesome destination, enjoy the trip! You never know when you will do it again or be at that exact place so have fun, take many pictures/videos and good luck!

Dating back to the 1800s, modern suspenders made their appearance as a practical means of holding up ones trousers. What is iconic about this accessory is not how the front looked but more how the back was formed. What started with an ‘H’ back then evolved to an ‘X’ back and finally ending at the ‘Y’ back. Today all three forms are available.

If you wonder why your grandparents wear their trousers high it’s because the fashion at their time was to wear high waisted trousers. This meant the traditional belt could not be used hence the popularity of the suspender or brace. As the fashion of suspenders matured the item was associated to the higher end of fashion and worn mainly by executives, professionals and distinguished gentlemen.

As the waist height of fashion became lowered over the years the practicality of suspenders has slowly faded out making way to the dominant belt. But this fashion seems to be making a minor comeback. Men and women are wearing the suspender as a fashion piece, what once was a hidden accessory is now being used in plain view as a statement to the overall look.

On men the look oozes masculinity while the look on women screams sexy.

The suspender can be styled in many ways producing endless looks. It can either be a matching or contrasting colour to a neighbouring item like a tie, scarf, pants, shoes or bag. When matched the look becomes sophisticated and considered while a contrasting colour alludes the feeling of elegance and detailing.

Suspenders are also attached to the trousers by buttons or clips, buttons being the preferred providing a more traditional look. An accessory that was once a staple with a complete suit can now be worn with or without a jacket. In a more modern style this look without a jacket provides an excellent take on a traditional style. When suspenders are worn without a jacket and purposely made as a statement piece it is important to consider the width of the bands. Once this was a standard size but todays fashion allows for multiple widths from thin to thick. Despite the general vertical line of suspenders creating an illusion of height and slimming the width needs to remain in proportion to your body shape or desired outcome as this width will also add to the illusion of the look.

Known to provide a more comfortable wear then a belt it is certainly an accessory to be tried and tested.

Otherwise referred to as the corrosion of iron, rust is the reaction of iron and oxygen when contact is made with water or moisture. Through this devastation of the surface the end result throws some stunning rustic colours out especially when the surface has eroded a painted surface. The colours erode and run creating an elegant colour combination, the original surface colour begins to pop out at you adding a dimension to the overall look.

Adapt these colour combinations to your fashion and the same effect happens. The rusted tones house the look and individual bolder colours start to pop.

One of the riskiest styles is attempting to wear one colour from head to toe. There are many ways to achieve this look and many ways to push the friendship with this style. However, when constructed thoughtfully this style can become magnificent and provide a sophisticated look. To make this work there are some considerations;

Colours
For her, any colour works well. Ladies have a natural feminine elegance that is promoted when they style in one colour whatever it is.
For him, darker colours hold a stronger masculinity and provide a more refined look. Men who opt for light or bright colours should do so if the goal is attention and not style.
For them, when considering the different items of a garment that go together to make a look try aiming for tones of the same rather the same tone all over. The different tones of the same colour help to break up the look and add dimension to the overall style.

Layers
For him, the more layers worn the more calculated and detailed the look. Adding waistcoats, jackets, ties, scarves, hats, bags build this look for him.
For her, the less layers worn the more simplistic and glamorous the look. A dress with heels and a clutch is she needs. However, ladies can also be versatile and adapt his more layered look too, this diversity allows her to pick her occasions and style accordingly.  A woman wearing one colour blouse, pants, overcoat, scarf, heels and bag will look equally stunning.

Patterns / Textures
When wearing the one colour, patterns and textures aid the visual break of the single colour. They help to add a depth to a somewhat plain look. Adding patterns and textures add an element of architecture to the look making the fabric livelier.

Within each colour there are many versions of finishes, for example matt, gloss, sheen, scratched, beaded, metallic and many more. Wearing a combination of finishes once again helps breaking up the single colour while adding a beautiful structured look.

And Yes you can cheat!
To enhance the one colour all over look add a minor strike of an alternate colour as an attempt to detail. These subtle enhancements need to be exactly that and should not take over the look, some examples are; belts, socks, tie, scarf, clutch, glasses, heels, buttons, lining, zippers or just a strike in the fabric somewhere. Just make sure it’s only one of the nominated options and strictly no more.

The perception you want to create from onlookers is “I love the detail in your outfit” not “I love that two tone outfit you’re wearing”
